Andrea's Plants: Weekly

FIRST WEEK  (8/02/2019)

Today, 18th February 2019, I have started with the experiment with the 10 plants, five green mints, and 5 primroses. One of each type is going to have different stimuli: Heavy Music (Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk, Hip-Hop, EDM...), Insults and Yelling, Indifference (nothing), Compliments and Soft Music (Classical, Jazz, Pop...).

To do the experiment I took the two plants that I insulted and yelled and the two that listened to heavy music and I put each pair in different rooms from each other and the other plants. I put the heavy music during 15' and I insulted and yelled the other two at the same time, 15'.
When the time has finished, I repeated the process but this time with the soft music and compliments plants.

This is how the plants start the experiment, we will see how they finish, with 15 days controls starting by now:

SECOND WEEK (25/02/2019)

On 25th February 2019, following the same steps and taking care equally of the plants, this is how they have been growing:

THIRD WEEK  (04/03/2019)

On 4th March 2019, with the same care, a problem has become more noticeable: the humidity. I live near a river so in my house there is a more humid clime, and it is not very good for our plants.
Now, the plants' look like it is:

Method

To prove our experiment, every day we have to take care of our plants: We take the plants that listen to stronger music at the same time as the plants that receive the insults and put on their' music while we insult the other two. Then, we do the same with the ones that listen to softer music and the ones that receive compliments. Then, we take a picture to track the plant's growth.

Introduction

We are a group of students of IES Sant Quirze (Paula De Boni, Andrea Matalonga and Francesco Tedesco). We needed to prepare a project for our RP (Research Project) and we has the idea to prove that the growth of a plant can respond to emotional stimuli. Our goal in this experiment is to demonstrate that that feelings have an influence on the growth of the plants we are going to care for. Out hypothesis is that positive emotions, such as compliments, will have a positive effect on the growth of our plants. For this experiment, we have decided to choose two differents plants to do a comparison once we finish, Spearmint and Rhododendra (Azaleas). Each one of us is going to care for five plants of each type. We are going to keep all of the plants in the same place and follow a strict watering schedule to be sure that any difference in their growth is not caused by other factors, such as temperature, sunlight or humidity. We are going to use five different types of emotional stimuli...
